Apple Pie in a Skillet

I just made one of the most delicious apple pies I have ever tasted! And it was all homemade in a skillet!
Here’s the recipe:

For the crust:

(from King Arthur website)

2-1/2 cups Flour

1 teaspoon Salt

2 Tablespoons Buttermilk Powder

1 cup Unsalted Butter

1/4 – 1/2 cup Ice Water

Find the complete recipe here

For the Filling:

7 cups Apple, cored and sliced

1/3 cup Sugar

1/3 cup Brown Sugar

3 Tablespoons Flour

1 teaspoon Cinnamon, ground

1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg, ground

1/2 teaspoon Ginger, ground

1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

1 Tablespoon Butter

1 Egg White

  1. Peel and core apples. Coat with lemon juice.
  2. Mix flour, sugars, and spices together.
  3. Toss mixture over apples. Coat well.
  4. Place apples in pan with crust.
  5. Dice butter into small cubes and scatter throughout pan.
  6. Add top crust.
  7. Whisk egg white until frothy. Brush along top crust with pastry brush.
  8. Bake at 375• for 35 minutes. Increase to 400• for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

I’m trying to build up the confidence to post the videos I made. But, that may take me some time.
